If You Try to Do Everything, You and Your Coaching Business Will F**L. Here’s Why.

Run for the trees and you might just hit a few, but it won’t be pretty, I promise.  Starting a coaching business online is much like entering a forest of “must haves.” There are so many must haves or the perception of such, that it is a treacherous sprint through what you think you should have and what you really need in order to get your business going.

It can make you so totally lost – like, I don’t even know why I started this business in the first place, lost.

That’s okay – I have something to show you at the end of this article that will help guide you through the start up forest.

It can go one of two ways:

1. You spend an incredible amount of time running after those perceptions till you have hit enough trees that you are ready to collapse and literally, no longer know where you are anymore.  Kind of like one of those, “How did I get here?” mornings. (mmhmm)

2.  You navigate the forest of needs with a guide, a short list, and you find yourself on the other side, with a little business sprouting, growing, thriving…and you’ve gained a whole lot of wisdom (you go girl!  Or guy!).

But my experiences tell me…

That there are so many points that you need to hit (trees) and elements that you need to include (trees) and oh wait, there are social media conversations you need to be having too (really big trees) that it is near impossible to not run bull-determined stupid into at least one.

Check out Simple Mind for creating awesome mind maps to help you navigate.

You could just throw your flashlight down and go home.  I don’t think you can stomach one more scrape or bruise (failures) today.  I don’t blame you.  But it doesn’t have to be that way.  With the right resources for building your coaching business, you could attack that forest with a map, hell, a GPS.  I’m going to make sure you finish today with the right resources!  At the end of this article, you can swipe my file, Over 40 Resources for Creating Your Online Presence.

That way, you’ll start to see the path that lies ahead (thank the stars).

It doesn’t matter what kind of coaching business you are building or whether you are still working on your life coach certification (you have to start somewhere), it is all the same process, the same woods to wander.  Just don’t go it alone and know where you are headed.  Red Riding Hood would even tell you that.

“Alice came to a fork in the road. ‘Which road do I take?’ she asked.
‘Where do you want to go?’ responded the Cheshire Cat.
‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered.
‘Then,’ said the Cat, ‘it doesn’t matter.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

It is important to remember how to navigate.  Most minds like yours, know how to navigate (pshh…”I can do that in my sleep” right?) But it is slowing the mind down enough to mark the navigational points, to make a plan.  Here’s a quick list of how to do just that:

  1. Create your basic building blocks of your business: Website, Writing, Delivery,  and Traffic.  I call these: Presence, Conversation, Promise, & Connection (I will elaborate on these more soon).

  2. Determine what elements you need for each block – only what you need to START.

  3. Map it out.  On an app, piece of paper, napkin, whatever.

  4. Gather your resources and BEGIN!

Your coaching business is your life changer – it is the thing that is going to give you more choices in life – it has to work and succeed …well.  You may not believe me when I say it, but the resources you have make this whole endeavor either really frustrating or really exhilarating.  Trust me, I have experienced both and it’s embarrassing to say, that I have felt frustration far more than exhilaration in my own business building endeavors over the years.  That’s why a precise selection of my 400+ coaching business building resources that I will be sharing will create a different story for you.

So which part of the woods is safe?  Where do you go?  What tools do you need?

Start by getting my file of over 40 Online Resources for Creating Your Online Presence.

What is it:  It is a file with live links to basic building blocks of resources that are organized by columns and categories.  I’ve included a basic breakdown of my building blocks.  The file includes a selection of awesome resources for making websites, graphics, social media and email management, even automated appointment setting.  The super cool part is – a lot of it is free just like the file from me to you.

Please note – I am NOT an affiliate of any of these resources, I do not benefit from you choosing or not choosing to use them.  That falls in the complicated category, I like simple.

What about updates:  When I do the research to update this file – I’ll always share that with you too.

I always end an article with my mantra.  It helps me to stay sane and remember I can’t do it all – neither can you, it’s ok.

The Mania Mantra

“Right now, I know that I can give you a ton of resources for building your online presence for your new coaching business, I know it will help you start building with clarity of purpose.” (maybe it will even totally rock)
